Professional Bio
As an Associate Professor at the University of King's College (Halifax, Canada) I am an historian and philosopher of science (https://ukings.ca/people/ian-stewart/). In my research I study the interfaces of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary science initiatives needed for management of social-ecological systems, primarily as encountered in Impact Assessment (IA). I have contributed to IA scholarship and IAIA events and initiatives since 2017, including the recently formed Atlantic Canada affiliate (https://www.atlanticcanada-aia.ca/).
At Dalhousie University's Ocean Frontier Institute I co-lead research projects on coastal community climate change adaptation and mitigation (https://www.ofi.ca/programs/transform-climate-action).
I contribute to regional discussions concerning IA of Canada's new offshore wind sector, and have co-founded (with Deborah Benkort, University of Quebec at Rimouski) the Canada Network for Offshore Wind Research, supported by the Marine Environmental Observation, Prevention and Response Network (MEOPAR).
