Camilia Zoe-Chocolate

Camilia Zoe-Chocolate is a Tłı̨chǫ educator, Tłı̨chǫ Knowledge Holder, Indigenous Knowledge, wildlife and environmental researcher, consultant, translator, photographer, and storyteller from Behchokǫ̀, Northwest Territories, Canada. Raised on the land by her traditional Tłı̨chǫ parents and grandparents, she developed a deep understanding of Tłı̨chǫ language, culture, Indigenous Knowledge, and stewardship of the land.

With more than 25 years of experience, Camilia has worked with Indigenous governments, communities, researchers, educational institutions, industry, environmental organizations, and territorial and federal governments in Indigenous Knowledge, environmental stewardship, wildlife research, language revitalization, education, governance, community engagement, and impact assessment. She bridges Indigenous Knowledge and Western science through collaborative research and environmental decision-making.

Camilia holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan, a Natural Resources Technology Diploma from Aurora College, and a Photography Certificate from MacEwan University.

She serves on Aurora College's Indigenous Knowledge Holders Council (IKHC), the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board, and the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board. She also represented the Arctic Athabaskan Council on the Arctic Council's Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) Working Group and the Sustainable Development Working Group (SDWG), following earlier service on the Wekʼèezhìı Land and Water Board.

As Co-Chair of the IAIA Indigenous Peoples Section, Camilia is committed to strengthening Indigenous voices in impact assessment, advancing Indigenous Knowledge systems, fostering respectful collaboration, and supporting future generations of Indigenous leaders, researchers, and practitioners.
