Retired

Professional Bio

I recently retired from the Victorian Public Service after 42 years continuous employment, initially with the Environment Protection Authority (1982-1990), then in environmental impact assessment. I managed assessment processes for many substantial transport, extractive, mining, energy, water, urban development, coastal infrastructure and other projects, advising Ministers and Department Executive on assessments and procedural matters and liaising directly with proponents, consultants, regulators and other stakeholders. I also contributed to a range of policy development processes and tasks under the broad umbrella of environmental and sustainability planning, including the establishment and governance of the Western Port Biosphere Reserve Foundation during the period from 2000 to 2012, the future use of the Devilbend and Frankston reservoir properties and the Green Wedges delivery program. I have been an active member of IAIA for many years, attending and presenting or convening sessions at conferences since 2008. I was honoured to be elected a Fellow member of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand in 2021. I am now open to undertaking consulting work on an individual basis.
