Professional Bio
I have been a professional in sustainable development, impact assessment, and safeguards policy, with a PhD in economics specializing in labor, poverty, and gender, and 20 years of experience in the environmental field. As the Safeguards Advisor and Head of the Gender and Safeguards Unit at UNEP, I developed UNEP's Safeguard Policy, established implementation procedures, and contributed to inter-agency efforts that resulted in a 'Model Approach' adopted by several UN agencies. In collaboration with UNDP, FAO, IFAD, WFP, and other UN entities, I represented UNEP in advocating for a UN system-wide approach to mainstream and scale up environmental and social sustainability. Since joining IAIA in 2014, I have actively participated in conferences, training courses, and facilitated UNEP team members' involvement in IAIA workshops and training.
