Course Details
This short (30 minute), self-paced course explores how SEA can guide sustainable and inclusive decision-making in the bioenergy sector. You will learn how SEA supports the development of bioenergy policies, plans, and programs by identifying key environmental and socio-economic risks, highlighting sensitive or unsuitable areas for development, and evaluating potential upstream, downstream, and cumulative impacts.
This course is designed for those who have completed the Foundations of SEA course, or who have some knowledge of the basic principles, stages, and modalities of SEA.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Identify environmental and socio-economic issues associated with bioenergy and the concerns of stakeholders.
- Identify areas that should be avoided for bioenergy development (“no go” areas) because of particularly high environmental and/or social risks.
- Identify any changes or additions required to policies, plans, or programs (PPPs) governing bioenergy development to address risks.
- Address the big picture, and upstream, downstream, and potential cumulative environmental and socio-economic impacts of bioenergy.
- Engage stakeholders likely to be affected by proposed or possible PPPs for energy development to identify their concerns early in the process.
You will receive a certificate of completion upon successful completion of the course.
Due to the nature of on-demand courses, this purchase is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Special thanks to the Norwegian Environment Agency for their support in the development of this course.
